Okiki Podcast Episode 25: Jason McElhone- How to Navigate the Future of Economy and It's Impact on Sales, Business & Remote Work

Okiki Articles Episode 25.png

When I first discovered Jason, he posted a video on LinkedIn titled “Never Stop Selling”. It caught my attention, because this was two weeks into the early stage of the COVID-19 lockdown, where most people, including myself, felt uncomfortable with the idea of even posting content about our business. Yet, he talked about experiencing 9/11 and watching his life, and his finances flash before his eyes, and making sales calls two weeks after that event and gaining money back for his clients. I was fascinated by his story and I knew I had to interview him.

Jason is the CEO at RemoteSales where we help companies sell remotely. He is also the founder of RemoteOnline the #1 Remote Job Site and he has gained 50,000 LinkedIn Followers and 35 Million Views.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Jason worked as a stockbroker, where he gained a salary of $300,000 within three months in his mid-twenties. He was living the high-life with nice cars and expensive watches.

  2. In 2008, During the economic crash, He experienced a massive loss and went from making millions to working at a factory for minimum wage. From this event, He learned the true value of the dollar and how it was not about buying ten thousand dollar watches but having enough money to pay your bills and do what you love in the service of others.

  3. He became a diligent content creator, where He makes consistent videos about how to do sales and sales calls. As a result, he has rebuilt his business, gained clients and grow a massive following for his personal brand.

  4. In the content creation world, only 1% will create content, only 9% will actively engage and keep the platform going, and the rest will just lurk. If you are willing to show up and get past the pressure and anxiety you put on yourself to be perfect on video, you will be seen and your brand will be known.

  5. This pandemic is literally the best time for you to start creating content, because everyone for the first time in history is stuck at home and spending excessive time on their computers and mobile phones. Jason believes as a salesperson, marketers or service person if you have not been putting yourself out there by creating content and giving value when the budgets come back, your services will be at the back of the line.
